- Oct 2004 - May 2007Analyst Programmer / Eversheds Development of multiple case management applications used by lawyers and legal staff for a variety of business areas such as remortgage applications, compulsory purchase orders, claims recovery and litigation. Supporting users in the use of hardware and software either over the phone, using remote desktop software or physical desk side support. The implementation of a national knowledge base for all members of the IT department. The implementation of a test network using disk imaging technology to produce standard test hardware.
- Mar 2004 - Aug 2004Systems Administrator / The Travel Lounge Working independently, managing my own time and prioritising tasks. Implementing a ghosting process using Norton Ghost that allowed any employee to re-image a machine in 20 minutes. This process would restore that machine back to a clean and workable state if problems occurred. Setup of a security policy and used an organizational unit on our server to restrict users rights such as installation of software and the ability to change settings. Maintenance of current hardware as well as installation and configuration of new hardware. Technical hardware and software support for customers and employees.
- 2000 - 2003Analyst Programmer / ComponentSource Creation and testing of a new SOAP interface for our system that was used to expose the business functionality of our application to external organizations. Writing of documentation for projects at both the conceptual UML design stage to the final document passed to end-users. Development of the Japanese ComponentSource website. Writing a wide variety of ActiveX DLL COM components in Visual Basic (VB) for operations such as data adoption logic, document storage, tax calculation and XML translation. I have then used these components within a distributed architecture either being created directly on a server or using DCOM to create them on other networked machines. Development of HTML and Active Server Pages (ASP) to expose business functionality using COM technologies in both Internet and Intranet applications. Writing SQL queries to retrieve information from a Microsoft SQL database that ranged from simple joins to virtual tree walking.
- Jan 2000 - Oct 2000Web Developer / Freedom House Publishing Development of HTML and Active Server Pages (ASP), utilizing both JavaScript and VBScript. Production of new database applications for end users as well as the general upkeep of existing databases. This involved creating and manipulating SQL databases over both the Internet and a LAN using ODBC. Giving technical support to end users on a day-to-day basis. This required problem solving skills and on the spot knowledge. In my time at Freedom House I supported most Microsoft Applications as well as the Apple Macintosh machines and our Sage accounting software. Day to day usage of SQL Server 7.0, Visual Interdev, Visual Basic (VB), Microsoft Access and Microsoft FrontPage. Web page design for external customers using Access as a back end system and integrating this into software to allow those customers to remotely update their own sites with little or no previous development experience.
